Our industry defining domain and website EquipmentHire.com is currently for sale.

We are a privately owned venture and part of a network of the highest grade domains and websites.

With our network of sites, we cover most genres, from Travel, to Games,to Social Networking, to Hire, and much more in between.

Our plan with our Hire domains, had always been to develop our sites with full blown paid directories in mind producing a high turnover annually. The option was always there further in the future to develop the domains as full blown brands and businesses with venture funding. It was our thinking that the most memorable generic terms would be the best to ‘brand’, they are after all what tens of thousands of people enter in google alone every month looking for the exact service.

Imagine a powertool or cherrypicker or floorsander, with ‘EquipmentHire.com’ on the side. Impossible to forget and it wouldn’t need tens of millions of marketing like other companies to be remembered.

This website alone, appears on the first page of google for ‘equipment hire’, from over 8.5 million results. It shows the power of top end category defining domains.

By appearing so high in the seo, you push your competition further down, you save on marketing ,ppc, etc.

You inspire confidence with the consumer, letting them know you must be the leader in your field to have the industry defining generic phrase.

This is a big opportunity for a startup or a new venture wanting to become a player in this billion £ market that by owning this domain you could potentially move into the Global Market. Equipment Hire is the defining term not just in the UK, but in New Zealand, Australia, and some other English speaking countries around the World.

To any company interested in making an approach, we are not at this stage putting a fixed price on ownership of the domain and site. We would instead offer a guide of £100,000 +.

This leaves us the opportunity to consider all offers, and to guide companies and interested parties what sort of range would not be considered.

Obviously there are thousands of companies in this sector and everyone would like to be at the table but we would like to entertain the most serious, to be fair to everyone. Even in this range we are selling for pennies in the pound as to the true value of what can be acheived with this property.

We would also consider leasing the domain on an annual basis, or even a joint partnership with the right company. The name and brand is big enough to be a franchise in it’s own right, so if you are a venture capital company or a smaller hire company with a vision, we would like to hear from you.

Our domain has been in private ownership since 1999 and this is really a one-off, once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire it. You can be sure any new owner will never sell to the competition.

The reason we are even considering selling, is because we do not currently have the seed funding to take these brands into fully developed businesses as they deserve. As mentioned we operate a large number of sites, but our core area is social networking and we are currently raising funding to take our main site to a new level .

As we are self funded and never borrow, it is natural and necessary for us to look to sell some assets to further the progress of our flagship social networking site.

Opportunity knocks for You.

In our opinion , we also own the single best portfolio of hire industry domains in the world.

We feel our portfolio is worth more sold individually as many are category defining industries within the sector.

However a couple of companies may value owning the entire portfolio for current and future useage, and to prevent any competitor of using and owning. As stated, we are considering parting with EquipmentHire.com initially if we receive an adequate offer.

We have listed a number of other sites and domains in our portfolio to give a flavour of the quality of domains and sites we operate. Some of which were first registered in the 1990′s.

EquipmentHire.com

EventHire.com

StageHire.com

HireIndustry.com

AccessHire.co.uk

………………

Ashtead say pretax profit rose 35 percent to 11.9 million pounds ($18.3 million) on sales 8 percent higher at 239.1 million pounds in the three months to the end of July.

Ashtead operates in the United States and the United Kingdom. The lions share of their profits and market is in the states, where they operate under ‘Sunbelt’.

In the UK they are household names, as ‘A-Plant’.

They deal in hire equipment hire ranging from plant to tools.

Their Chief Executive, Geoff Drabble, said “Whilst end markets remain fragile, our strong performance in fleet on rent reflects the impact of the responsible correction in fleet sizes throughout the rental industry and increased outsourcing by customers, a trend we expect to continue.”

More sales and lower costs, gained by cost cutting have helped their success story. Their share price is currently 92 pence sterling.

This values the group at £445,000,000 .

Since the market is saturated with various brands it is really difficult to compare the various power tools before settling for the one that suits your purpose.

There are a number of power tools out there in the market that have their own unique features and benefits thus making it difficult and even stressful to settle for the one which meets your needs. Each power tool is different from one another as they have all been created for a specific purpose and need. It is essential that you use the right tool for the job in a safe and appropriate manner.

However, there are some basic areas of comparison to take into consideration. Not only will it give you the best deals but it will also help you decide which power tool suits your needs best.

Price plays a vital role, of course. None of us want to spend money we don’t have to but when you think of the years of use you’ll get from a good power tool you’ll see that erring on the “cheap” side can be a mistake. Most power tools available in the market these days are reasonably priced, although some heavy duty and top of the line power tools might be out of your budget range. The cost of supplies should also be considered, such as sanding paper refills, nails for a nail gun, extra bits for a drill, belts, blades and other accessories.

Equally necessary is the features to look out for in the power tools. It is important to take a good look at all the features in the power tools as it will help you realize whether you are really going to use them or if you should get a less expensive model that has only one or two function.

Although most power models are designed to last for a long time it is necessary to always check about the availability of replacement parts. It is advisable to make sure that customer service is available in case you have any queries, questions, comments, complaints or issues with the power tools.

The quality of the power tools is your most important consideration. Look at online as well as magazine reviews and try to talk with people (salespersons, too!) that have had experience with the brand or brands you’re considering. Ideally, you will be able to choose a tool that will last several years, if not decades, in good working order.

Consider, too, the weight of the tool. Many buyers take home a “solid” power tool only to find that once they begin working with it their hands quickly get fatigued and achy. Tools that are feather-light, on the other hand, may be built of flimsy materials.

Are you aware of the noise the power tool will make? Although you should always wear ear protection when operating power tools, you don’t want one that the neighbor two blocks away can hear!

Check out the safety features and make sure any guards have a good record of ease of operation. Some manufacturers make great efforts to insure that their tools are the safest possible while others include minimal safety features.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help when choosing a power tool. Remember that those that never ask questions never learn anything and usually end up with next to nothing! Buying a power tool is an important purchase and any help you can get in making the right decision is valuable

Power tools are wonderful! This latest generation of children will probably never know what it is to laboriously saw through a board by hand or pound roofing nails onto a house in the hot sun.

With the powerful motors of today’s tools, our labour is easier and faster and recent innovations have even allowed our tools to reach tight places that were formerly impossible.

Power tools have allowed hundreds of small businesses to spring up and contribute to our communities. They save time and labour and also allow us to fix many things ourselves where we would otherwise have had to spend money on a professional. Do it yourself home repairs and renovations are no longer dreaded chores but satisfying weekend projects.

Whether it’s a battery operated screwdriver or a powerful table saw, there are many things you should look for when choosing a power tool. After all, a job is only as good as the tools you work with! Power tools are one of the products where you should always choose quality over low prices. If you can get both, well and good! But if you sacrifice quality for price you will ultimately pay more than you had planned.

There are several manufacturers with a reputation for quality and they should be considered but many up and coming companies are making some very fine quality power tools. One of the first things you should look for is the integrity of the casing. Is it made of thin plastic or solid, shock resistant material? Make sure it has a comfortable, non-slip grip, this is for your safety as well as convenience.

You may also want to compare power consumption. One of the reasons we like to do jobs ourselves is that we save money and adding considerably to our electric bill doesn’t accomplish that goal very well.

You will also want to make sure you are getting the proper tool for the job at hand. For instance, an electric screwdriver is handy for small jobs but totally inappropriate for constructing a shed or other large building. For that, you need a power drill with interchangeable tips that will let you get the job done quickly and efficiently.

Some of the most common power tools used around the house are a band saw, belt sander, chain saw, circular saw, drill, heat gun, jigsaw, table saw and a planer. Professional construction workers use these plus concrete saws, crushers, jointers, thickness planers and wood routers. Unless you build furniture for a living you will probably not use most woodworking tools such as planers and routers; these are quite expensive and you can subcontract out small jobs for a fraction of what the tools cost.

Once you decide the kind of tool you need and find a quality tool with good construction you should look at the safety options. Cutting tools should come equipped with guards and automatic shut-offs. There has even been a saw invented that stops automatically before the blade can come in contact with human skin! If you balk at the price of tools with more safety features, think of the medical you might incur if you skimp on safety not to mention the pain and lost work time.

Find out if your tool will need regular maintenance such as blade sharpening, oiling or motor work. These services might be offered by the store you buy them from or you may have to learn to do it yourself. Remember that your tools are only as good as the care you give them.

It’s a good idea to make a list of the tools you are considering so that you can look up consumer comments on the internet. Talk to your friends and even to sales reps at the store you’re shopping in and see what public reaction has been. No matter what the box says or the manufacturer’s website claims, feedback from real people who have used the tools are one of your most valuable resources when choosing the best tools for your needs.

Take safety seriously! For instance, a nail gun should always, always be empty unless you are ready to use it. Cords for chargers should always be tied up and kept short enough so that there is very little of it between the charger and the outlet—battery charger cords have been known to cause serious accidents when people trip over them. When you are not using your tools, remove the battery if there are children that could get hold of them.

Always wear eye protection when using your tools and ear protection, too. Although you may not think that gloves are necessary, they can save you a great deal of pain should your hand slip.

When it comes to working with power tools, the risk of accidents should be taken seriously. Thousands of accidents occur every year with power tools, and some of them are ultimately fatal.

The body part most affected by the common power tool is the index finger. This can be a minor cut, if you’re lucky, or as serious as a severed finger. No matter how many safety precautions the manufacturers take, you will probably suffer an index finger injury at least once if you use power tools very often.

Saws are the power tool that causes the most accidents; they are extremely sharp and even minor injuries are common when they are operated. Many users are lulled into a sense of complacency, become careless and then find themselves being stitched up-or worse-in the emergency room.

The cords to power tools are the second most common factor in accidents. Although cordless power tools are more common now, many people prefer not to be interrupted by low batteries and some prefer the tools they’ve used for years to new ones. You should always inspect a cord at least once per month to be sure it is not frayed and the plug is in good condition. Frayed cords have caused nasty shocks and even electrocution. Cords should be kept away from any surface that is damp or wet and drinks should be kept well away from the work area. Tripping over cords has caused many injuries, too, especially after the tool has been turned off and laid aside.

You can prevent accidents and injuries by taking a few common sense precautions. The most important factor is your own awareness. No matter how often you’ve used that particular power tool, ask yourself if you remember all the safety precautions that were in the operator’s manual. If not, it’s time to go over it once more. We often find things we’ve forgotten and some that we shouldn’t have! Never assume that you can’t be injured just because you’ve been using that type of tool for years. In fact, that’s when many injuries occur.

The environment you’re working in is also a big contributor to injury. Are there materials strewn about the floor? Are there items stacked up that could fall over and distract you? Be sure that the surface you’ll be standing on is completely dry and smooth with nothing for you to trip over or slip upon. If you are working in an unfamiliar area, take a few moments to look around and know where everything is, removing potential hazards.

You should not be scared of power tools but you should definitely respect their ability to quickly injure your body. Without power tools we would not be able to do half the things we are now able to do for ourselves at home or build homes and offices so quickly. They are very convenient and have become affordable for everyone. Ironically, their very accessibility has increased the number of injuries attributed to power tools in the past few years.

Remember that you should always respect your tools—you can enjoy your work but you should always show them respect. The moment that you become blasé about working with them, you are an accident waiting to happen. Wear eye protection every time you use a power tool, take care and that guards are in place before you turn it on and never work with a power tool unless there is someone readily available to help if you should be injured.

If you are working on a construction site or have worked in construction before then you will definitely know the benefits of hiring a crane but in case you haven’t, then it’s necessary that you are educated about the advantages of crane hire.

When you are building a house you might start realizing that there are different levels and heights which become dangerous to work at safely, which also can become a major issue particularly when it comes to access and it can become a serious problem incase your going to install trusses for example.

Now this is obviously clear to experienced contruction workers and civil engineering companies. However many diy enthusiasts and small companies may not consider crane hire when they absolutely should for individual tasks.

For example spider cranes to move glass, reducing the risk of serious injury. Or as mentioned earlier crane hire to move trusses into place on even low level house construction.

For crane work you have to have a crane and a crane operator, but you equally have to make sure that your crane operator is highly trained and certified especially for this kind of a job. An inexperienced crane operator can infact destroy the trusses which have already been set up and this will cost a lot of money, time and effort in the long run. A good operator might charge quite a bit and they normally charge per hour also. It’s ideal to be set, prepared and ready for the coming operation before calling the crane operator.

All your people will have to be in place as they will need to be ready to drop the trusses in the right location. At this stage it is not important to concern yourself with securing the trusses completely instead you can just brace them so that they stay in place for a short span of time as you can always get back later to finish securing the trusses. This is a great reason to use a crane and hire an operator too but obviously it is not the only reason. Another practical reason to hire a crane operator is so as to have supplies lifted from the ground floor to the top of the building. Suppose the building is extremely tall then you most definitely don’t want to be carrying boards and beams to the top of the building. It may indeed seem like a waste of money to rent one of these devices but thinking of it in actual terms it can speed up the entire process in a huge way thus making it possible for you to focus your concentration on the other things rather than just having to worry about paying employees to carry supplies up long flights of stairs. As you are aware hiring a crane in this case takes away the possibility of an employee injury and subsequent lawsuit.

These are great reasons for you to get a crane to complete your project. It indeed may seem a little expensive initially but certainly this expense will make up for the amount of time and effort needed to invest later to complete the same work. Even if it’s not a palace or a pyramid you intend to build ,money and time is something you need plenty of regardless of the size of the project you have taken on.

Here are some safety tips when working with powertools or hiring powertools for the first time from a equipment hire company.

Power Tools are essentially for people in the trade who want to accomplish their job in a competent manner as well as for those who want to ‘do it yourself’. Using the right tools can prove to be a huge benefit in many ways like for example the right tools can save you time and money plus it can also make your job easier to accomplish.

A power tool can be a very dangerous object if it is used wrongly. Hence it is vital that the tool is handled in the correct way in order to avoid accidents and injuries. Some common reasons for disaster to strike are carelessness, over confidence and not reading the instructions.

Here are some safety tips to ensure you are safe whilst working with power tools. It is most necessary to wear safety glasses because it will prevent dust or debris from flying into your eyes and it also counts for wood shavings, shards and fiberglass. Power Tools tend to create a lot of noise and can especially appear to be louder in a workshop’s confined place. Therefore, it is a sensible idea to wear ear plugs or ear defenders, since it will not only help you to protect yourself but it will also avoid permanent damage to your ear drums.

Before starting any DIY job you need to know which tool is best for the job as this will drastically help to avoid any injury to yourself or any damage to the machine. For these reasons it is highly recommended that you read the instructions manual which come with the power tool kit carefully and also familiarize yourself thoroughly with the safety measures.

Instructions on how to clean and store your tools carefully and how to take care of it are also included. You should always carry a power tool by its handle and never by its cord. It is necessary to disconnect it if it is not in use. Always make sure your fingers are far away from the switch incase you are using a tool which is connected to the power source. Remeber to use a power breaker when working with high powered tools.

Clothing is a major factor to remember when working with power tools. It is very important to wear the right clothing and tie long hair back. It is equally important to avoid wearing loose clothing making sure that your whole body is covered to protect your skin.

Safety gloves must be worn along with goggles to protect your eyes from flying debris.Consider a dust mask also to prevent breathing in dust and particles to protect your respiratory system. If working indoors, make sure the room is well ventilated.

There are various situations where power tools should not be used. Power Tools should not be used in a wet environment or if it has been raining heavily. Under no circumstances should power tools be placed under water. Once you are done using the power tools always make sure that they are replaced in their appropriate cabinets as this will prevent them from being used by people who are not authorized to use them. Strong lighting has to be made accessible when working with tools especially in a basement or a cellular where natural light is not available.

Never use power tools around children or animals and pets. This is primarily for their safety, but for yours also, so that you do not become distracted.

Following the above tips can come a long way as it will not only stop you or others from getting injured or from accidents happening but it will also prevent the tools from getting damaged thus providing a friendly , safe and healthy environment for your tools , your surroundings and yourself .

Audio Visual Hire or AV Hire is pretty self explanatory really, although many people, including corporate clients are unaware of the scope of equipment that can be hired, and the size of the industry.

Audio Visual Technology now crosses over to include projection, lighting, sound, and display , for example plasmas and video.

The explosion of this industry is in part to the advancement of technology in display systems and the sheer size of plasma screens available now. But mainly due to the conferencing capabilities and demands.

Video conferencing requirements, along with audio conferencing, web conferencing and data conferencing.

It seems every industry out there is calling on this sector of Event Hire, the AV sector.

Large and small businesses, the education system, schools and universities, shops, museums, churches, clubs, the military and the healthcare sector all have major requirements.

Many businesses are caught up in the current downturn and it’s not prudent to buy equipment, it makes much more sense to hire it.

The biggest clients tend to be corporate events, I.T and educational institutions.

Typically this billion dollar business doesn’t just involve the hiring of av equipment, but also operators, programers, consultants and presentation specialists.

An interest report was carried out and researched by Executive Hire News in 2007.
They looked into how the industry is dominated by the top ten key players,

and even then how there is a gulf between even the 9th and 10th places.
After the 10th position the rest of the industry come almost nowhere. There really isn’t an industry I can compare where there is almost no middle ground. It consists of Big and Little players. EquipmentHire.com is looking to change the balance, but more on our heady plans in the future.
It should be noted this report of facts and figures is 3 years old and focuses only on the Tool and Equipment Hire Industry. It doesn’t take into account that ‘Equipment‘ can, and is everything. Not just Plant and Machinery, but Audio Visual Equipment, Outdoor Equipment, Stages etc.

The ‘industry’ was calculated to be worth about £1.6 Billion in 2007. This suggested that the top 10 companies had a 53% market share. With Speedy hire having a 17% market share alone!

The table listed below represents a forecast and prediction of the year ahead, when the report was made by EHN.
The average growth rate for the top 10 was 15% and Speedy had a 32% share of the Top Ten.

More and more the smaller players in the industry look to be getting squeezed out.

Top Ten Players:

1 Speedy Hire 280 £ Million
2 HSS Hire Service 165 £ Million
3 Brandon Hire 95 £ Million
4 Hewden (tools) 91.5 £ Million
5 Jewson Tool Hire 55 £ Million
6 Hire Station 47 £ Million
7 A-Plant Tool Hire Shops 40 £ Million
8 TP Hire 37.0 £ Million
9 GAP 31.5 £ Million
10 JG Martin Plant Hire 9.7 £ Million

Total : £851.7 Million
